PFK D.R.C. began in 2015 through Harrun Onunga. Harrun was a staff member in the PFK program in Kenya for over two years. Harrun was loved by every child and youth in those programs and grew to become an anointed leader and teacher of the Word of God. In the midst of his faithful service in PFK Kenya, the Lord suddenly called him to move and serve Him in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, specifically in Goma (eastern D.R.C.). Without knowing anyone or having any prior connections, Harrun obediently followed the Lord and moved to the D.R.C. in April 2015 with the vision of starting a PFK program in that location.
The D.R.C. is a volatile and unstable country which still has rebel activity, attacks, and constant theft. The people therefore suffer greatly. Knowing these struggles, Harrun moved forward in faith, trusting that the Lord wanted to do a mighty work in that place. Within a month or two, he connected with an assistant pastor in a village outside of Goma and was asked to teach English to Bible students and anyone from the area who was interested. He agreed with the condition that he could also teach them the Bible.
Those lessons quickly resulted in a Kids Club program on Fridays and a soccer program on Saturdays. Within two weeks, over 200 children started attending the program, walking long distances to come. Harrun took everything he learned from PFK Kenya and trained interested Congolese volunteers to become teachers of the children, and now a whole team of volunteers teach hundreds of children every week.
The children are hungry for the Word of God, and they long to be in a loving, stable, and joyful environment. PFK Club offers these children the ability to leave their constant worry and trouble behind and come to a safe place to learn, be loved, and have fun. Harrun meets with the teachers weekly to study the Bible and plan their Kids Club lessons, and he supervises and teaches with them every week. Harrun's wife, Gladwell, also initiated a teenage girls' class where sanitary towels are distributed monthly and, since the meetings started, we have seen teenage pregnancies be reduced. is It has been truly phenomenal what the Lord has done in this location, as He uses Harrun and the PFK ministry to show these children the love of Christ and train up adults in the Word of God.
